How international dialling via 0844 numbers work

The call charge, as discussed in the previous articles , of 0844 numbers for international dialling are pretty less than the call charges charged by BT. So one is compelled to think about how can some one charge even less than BT for international calling. For this we need to understand how this international calling works on 0844 numbers. Well not go into the technical details of this but will superficially discuss about how does this work. In order to dial cheap international calls what subscriber needs to do is to get an 0844 number and gives the service provider the number to which this 0844 number has to be mapped . What does the service provider do is just map that 0844 number to that international number and hence whenever the dialler calls that 0844 number the call is routed to that international number. This call some how needs to be travelled through a network to that international phone(receiver), for that usually the BT networks are used i.e. service provider use the existing international calling BT networks for routing their international calls for which BT charges an amount to the service provider. So, in order to make the cost less than BT the service provider needs to go through a network which costs less than BT. For that hence the service providers like 08direct have their own internet routing networks which enable them to by pass the BT networks and hence these service provider do not pay BT . Since they have their own international call intent routing network which costs them lower than BT so the caller also is hence charged less than the BT rates. So, this is how 0844 number works for international calling and for giving you lower rates than BT.
